Breast Cancer Clinical Trial Website and Recruitment Case Study

Jonathan Eilberg • October 3, 2022

Trial AMPlify was approached by SynDevRx to create a multi-language clinical trial website, supporting graphics and a patient recruitment marketing campaign to attract eligible breast cancer subjects for its new, experimental breast cancer treatment called Evexomostat.

Clinical Trial Website Design

SynDevRx is a metabo-oncology firm based out of Cambridge, MA focused on the link between cancer and metabolic hormone dysfunction. Their drug, Evexomostat (SDX-7320) is an anti-angiogenic and anti-metabolic treatment that works in the tumor mirco environment. It is designed to be used in combination with standard-of-care therapies for multiple cancer indications, starting with HR+/Her2- and triple-negative (TNBC) breast cancer.

The Challenge

SynDevRX needed to launch a new, world-class looking clinical trial website that would act as the "mother ship" for recruiting new subjects across the US as quickly as possible.

To accomplish this, the new site needed to encompass all the best practices from the messaging and visitor journey to the design, SEO, and compliance. An effective patient recruitment marketing strategy, implementation, and ongoing campaign management was also critical for their success in announcing their clinical study and recruiting new subjects quickly.

After an extensive branding workshop, SWOT analysis and reviewing the goals of the projects, the team at Trial AMPlify went to work on pulling together all the elements to make the website, SEO, patient recruitment and compliance come together.

  • The site needed to look great and load quickly across all devices (desktop, tablet and mobile)
  • The site needed to be HIPPA compliant, and be SEO-friendly to rank well in Google searches for the keywords that mattered most to the trial.
  • The web visitor journey needed to conveyed the most important elements of the study and make sense to both the layman patient as well as medical savvy healthcare visitors.
  • A custom graphic was needed to reinforce patient study eligibility.
  • An important goal was to help patients and their doctors "self-identify" on the site and make a determination as to whether the study was a good fit.
  • Visually appealing clouds were also incorporated throughout the site to make the experience a memorable one.

Clinical trial graphic design

Perhaps the most critical element needed was a graphic to convey the science quickly and effectively. Trial AMPlify designers were asked to create a patient eligibility graphic to help relay who was a good candidate for the clinical study.

What We Accomplished

The team at Trial AMPlify interviewed the client stakeholders to better understand the recruitment objectives of the clinical trial, website tone, design look and feel, and what digital assets needed to be created.

- Conducted a SWOT analysis to review and confirm audience/ personas and demographics. Developed journey maps and strategically segmented content. Trial AMPlify then created branding guidelines, helped craft homepage messaging, designed a mood board, and delivered a formal style guide.

- Designed and developed a new, impactful parallax website with sticky navigation along with supporting graphics, an easy to understand testing lab map, and an expandable FAQ section

- An integrated video of moving clouds was used in the header of the site to compliment the new AMELIA 1 study logo and give it a unique visual appeal that would long be remembered after web visitors left the site.

- Implemented all essential SEO best practices to adhere to  Google guidelines for page # 1 search results and to maximize organic search performance for targeted key phrases.

- Reviewed and analyzed media selection. Set up a Google campaign to drive web traffic to the new website quickly to help drive patient recruitment immediately while SEO took hold. Coordinated with Google Ad Support team to verify and confirm clinical trial advertising policies were followed.

- Ensured the site was ADA compliant and followed HIPAA guidelines.

- Developed the new site on a maintenance-free, fast page-loading content management system (CMS) hosted on AWS with a CDN network in place to ensure 99.9% uptime. 90% of the Top 10 global biopharma company websites are hosted on AWS.

- Set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Generated and submitted an XML sitemap to Google for immediate crawling.

Clnical Trial Enrollment
By Jonathan Eilberg November 25, 2025
In today’s fast-evolving clinical research landscape, clinical trial enrollment has become one of the biggest bottlenecks for sponsors and CROs. Traditional recruitment methods often fall short, leading to delayed timelines and skyrocketing costs. Fortunately, digital strategies are transforming clinical trial patient enrollment by connecting studies with qualified patients faster and more efficiently than ever before. Industry data shows that trials leveraging digital-first recruitment strategies can see over 150% more prequalified inquiries and shorten enrollment timelines by more than four months compared to conventional approaches. These gains are critical when 80% of clinical trials fail to meet enrollment deadlines. By embracing targeted digital advertising for clinical trials, sponsors can reduce risk, accelerate study start-up, and bring life-changing therapies to patients sooner.
